How to Travel With Your Baby

Traveling with your baby would definitely require a lot more preparation compared to traveling with older kids. Here are some tips on what you should pack and what you should do as you take your baby to your trip:

• When you pack your baby’s things, take with you as much disposable items as possible – diapers, feeding bibs, burping clothes, baby wipes, scented trash bags, etc. Travel light may be every passenger’s goal but what you pack doubles when the passenger is a baby.

• Make sure that you pack extra clothes and a scented bag to store your baby’s dirty clothes. If you are traveling on a train, bring a sweater and heavy socks for your baby since travel can get cold for them.

• Bring fresh fruit that you can mash in order to make baby food. Since you are traveling, there might be no way to heat up bottled food. Always bring bottled water to satisfy thirst in between meals.

• If you are going to be staying in motels or with relatives who do not have kids then it will help to bring with you a portable travel high chair.

• Carry along with you a first aid kit in case of emergencies. Throw in the box your entire baby medicine cabinet. It would help if you make sure that your baby is completely vaccinated before traveling. Traveling long distances can introduce your baby’s immune system to new diseases and bugs.

• Do not forget to add some books and toys along the pack so that your baby will be entertained throughout the trip. Much of the trip would be spent finding ways to occupy your baby so you must be prepared.

• Keep your baby on his or her regular schedule even if you are traveling. So if your baby usually takes a nap after lunch time then let your baby take a nap at the same time as well.

• Make sure that you allow some time in your itinerary for frequent stops. A flexible itinerary will allow you to have plenty of time to stop and feed, change and even cuddle up with your baby on the way.
